Error Message

Hi. I am a problem with the built-in cd burning application that comes with Windows XP. I receive an error message everytime I try to copy a file to the cd-rom drive. It says, Windows has encountered a problem when trying to copy this file. What do you want windows to do: retry, skip, or cancel. I cannot try to copy the file. I can only skip the file or cancel it. I have chatted with emachine techs five times concerning this problem. They did not fix it. I have done three complete system restore and the problem still persist. When I first brought the machine it worked fine. Can anyone please help me with this problem. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Could be that the CD burner itself is bad. Can you read CD/DVDs?

Is that a CD burner or just a CD-ROM drive?

@ Criket he has a CD-RW/DVD combo drive, meaning he can burn CDs and only read DVDs.

The CD writing laser might be on the blink happens often on these sort of drives. You might try different media when burning to see if thats at fault or source a replacement drive.
