cant delete file
I have this file left over from a B2 uninstall that I just cant get rid of, I try and delete it and it says 'cant read from source file or disk' the file has .jpg extension but it's like its not really there. I couldnt rename it but I was able to rename the b2 folder that was in my documents. I find it strange that I am able to move the containing folder to a different directory but not the file itself. I even tried using hijackthis delete file on reboot but no luck. I wasnt sure where to post this but I picked here, I'm running winXP

when I try and delete it in safe mode it says
'cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name.' I was also not able to delete it with move on boot |

Have you tried going into Windows Explorer, right-clicking on the file, selecting Properties, and seeing if the read-only or hidden attributes are checked? If they are, uncheck them and apply the changes and then see if it will delete. I had this happen once on a Mortal Kombat game when I tried to delete it. One leftover file was marked read-only and it wouldn't delete until I unchecked that attribute.

the properties says
type of file: file size 0 bytes no dates for creation when I hold the mouse over the file it says its 841 bytes and it has a .jpg extension but it's a generic icon I read through those links on cant delete file on NTFS... non of them really seem like they could be my problem, aside from maybe hard drive going bad, I dont want to even think about that so I put the blame on EA |
