Can someone please tell me if its worth paying for the retail version of XP home.
This is a brand new build (my first actually) I'm not planning on switching machines for a while. However, I do plan on upgrading the machine when necessary ie new video cards, hdd, more ram. At what point is it considered a new machine or is always considered the same machine as long as its in the same box. I guess my real question is how hard is it to get a new product key from microsoft when you have to due a new install on the same machine with the OEM version Thanks ------- Also, for the user you isnt doing anything spetacular, maybe a very small home network, is it worth it to get PRO --------- I also want to make sure Im looking at the right product, they have like 50 different options when buying windows =) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16837102059 Last edited by Statica; 12-31-2005 at 08:54 AM. |

It usually isnt worth buying the retail version of the operating system. There is no difference in the versions at all so you can upgrade your PC as and when you require. Activations will also proceed without a hitch. Either way it's real painless to get it.
There isn't anything in Pro that will enhane your small home network. So XP Home OEM should be just fine. |
