2000 Machine giving me troubles....

Ok, I know the forum rules about password protection and all of that. Just wanting to ask, I have a windows 2000 machine that was given to me. Now, I went to use it and noticed that I was not logged on as an administrator using the standard account. So, I tried typing administrator into the logon box and hitting enter and its giving me a password error. So I was just wondering if I'm screwed and need a restore of it there is an admin account that I can get into to make a new account that I know the password to.

If the user you are logged in as has administrator rights, you can go to User Manager and reset the Administrator account password.

Right Click My Computer > Manager > Users and Groups > Users > Right Click Administrator Account > Reset Password

Only two options we can suggest. Try logging in in Safe mode. If you still get the prompt, use google to find your solution. We can't discuss bypassing passwords. Thanx for understanding, Hags.
