Go to Start > Run, type regedit, and press ENTER or click OK.
A window opens up (this is the Registry); on the left are a series of file folders, and on the right are the values.
Go to key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version and "RegisteredOwner" (Windows NT/2000/XP users). Double-click Registered Owner in the right-hand pane and under Value data, change the name to whoever you'd like. Click OK and this will change the Registered Owners' name from your dad's to yours.

if you dont want to play with the registry editor( i know people who are terrified of it) you can download a program called X-Setup. lots of options and features. especially one to change the name and company and more

x-setup is a pay program, but its version 6 i think has been relased to the pblic as freeware.
