Can I disable error messages in ME

I get this annoying critical error message appearing when me boots up to the welcome screen but the program is working just fine. I have to close this error window manually each time and then windows me operates with no problems.
Have tried just about everything I know to get rid of it, run pconpoint and hijackthis and to no avail. Still pops up each time I start the computer.
Is there a way that I can disable the critical error message box from appearing. I know you can disable error reporting in xp but cant seem to find anything in me that will enable me to disable this critical error box from coming up.
Thanks guys

It would help if you would tell us exactly what it says - we may be able to figure out what's causing it. I don't know of any other way to stop it from appearing. Even in XP, you will get critical errors, all you can do is turn off reporting the error to Microsoft.

I'll take a wild guess - is it a message that a file is missing? If everything runs fine after that anyway, it might just be a less-than-perfect un-install that's left debris. (In which case, if you can't tell what program it belongs to, try a Google search - then reinstall & uninstall the program again, or remove it from your Startup Folder, and/or the Registry entries for startup programs, and/or any .ini files that load it at startup.

Other than that, like glc mentions, post the error message & we'll have a look.

. . . Gary

[P.S. -- run a good thorough spyware/virus check, too]
