How to replace win2000 with winxp?
Some suggestion needed in the Installation of WinXP and Win2000. I have not done any such kind of installation, I am just asking this for my knowledge.
I only have 2 partitions ( C: and D: ) in my HDD. I want to replace Win2000 with WinXP in D: and want to keep Win98 in C: Can I do the Installation this way: By restarting Computer in MS-DOS mode and after entering dos prompt, can I format D: from C: ( where win98 is already installed)? Should Win2000 be installed in FAT32 Partition? After that can I run the Installation process of WinXP from a WinXP CD? Or Do I also have to first format the D: from WinXP CD? Another question that I want to ask is that can we install win98 in D: and winxp or win2000 in C: ?
Which of the following OS keeps its booting files in Primary Partition(C: )? 1) Win2000 2) WinXP 3) Win98 4) Win2003 |

Win98 MUST be installed on the Primary partition...
Booting off the XP cd will allow you to format D and then proceed with the install. No need to use Win2k at all.
