Angry Fire Booting XP problem

I have a serious issue with WINXP PRO SP2, I've recently assembled my first pc (specs in signature), everything is working fine with no problems, but when I install every driver and restart the pc, it starts untell the loading picture of WINXP, then it freezes!

Example of what happend:
Installed WINXP > Installed nVidia chipset > Installed VGA > Installed Sound > Installed Ethernet .. untell here i can restart the pc as long as I want, but when I install anything else like Battlefield2 the freeze thing happens. Sometimes even after installing the chipset it happens.

Someone told me it's an IRQ conflict issue (but I'm not familiar how IRQ is set) ..

EDIT: I never restart I keep hibernating !!

Can any1 plz help me ?? My pc is new and I want to use it

Regards,
MoD

Hi mod_024

There have been a few issues with hibernate and that model motherboard, and a great many suggested solutions. Some have found a resolution by updating the motherboard's bios, some by using Windows XP's IDE drivers (and not nVidia's), some end up just disabling Standby (in Power Management) altogether.

If you aren't certain about either your cooling (temps seem OK?) or power supply (voltages seem OK?) - they are always worth checking while troubleshooting a new build. Of course, check that both power connectors from the power supply are securely seated (don't forget the smaller connector).

If you are overclocking at all, switch back to stock speeds (even underclock if you'd like, just to check). If you're not using the SLI function, make sure it's not enabled. You can also try going without the "Cool N Quiet" features while troubleshooting - and let the fans run at full speed while you search for a repair.

Make sure the computer isn't attached to any networks, too, while building/repairing a PC = you need to be behind a working firewall, with antivirus and antispyware apps running before you connect again.

I'd suggest just starting over again - zero write (or just reformat) the drive, go into the Bios Setup & double-check all the settings, insert your Windows XP Pro CD & start your install from scratch. Only this time = when installing the nVidia drivers, choose not to install the IDE drivers - just to see. Make sure you have exact-match SATA, ethernet, vga, and sound drivers (also be sure that the onboard sound is disabled, since you're not using it). Use the most recent you can find.

If trying the different drivers for devices doesn't work, check into updating the board's bios.

. . .

Here's an example of a thread about hibernation issues on your model motherboard (there are many, many others - a quick Google search will yield a great many more) -

Best of luck

[P.S. -- I'm not much familiar with that brand of power supply - - here's an example of a fellow who had a little trouble with his http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/53235/ -- this sort of thing can happen to even the best models. If you have a different supply of sufficient wattage and quality, it couldn't hurt to try = uneven power can cause lockups].

[one more P.S. -- for a quick fix, try booting into Safe Mode = if all is well there, try looking in on your startups with msconfig, and also perhaps changing a driver or two]

GaryRouth

First of all thank you very much for coming to my aid

ok now .. before everything, i've read the thread about the psu issue but i didnt seem to see any of his problems with me, so I think its not the psu.

but I didnt install the IDE drivers as u said and the windows is acting normally with no troubles at all, im installing and restarting my pc normally (i guess that solved the problem).

now my problem is gone (at least for now) thanx to you my friend, but last question:
Should I update the bios ?? (rest of drivers are up to date).

THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!

Deepest Regards,
MoD

No. If the computer is working fine now then there's no reason to update the BIOS.

What did your friend do to fix your problem?

Hi Cricket ..

Thanx for answering my Q.

GaryRouth told me in his post not to install nVidia IDE drivers, I uninstalled them and left them like that and the problem is gone.
