Blue Error Screens on XP - 0x00000050

I recently got a motherboard upgrade so I could have more RAM. Now all I get is 0x00000050 errors with ntfs.sys or win32k.sys.
I guessed this was a hard drive problem. Is there any way to fix it, I really don't want to spend another load on it. It's a build:
1.1ghz AMD
512mb PC2700 RAM
nVidia GeForce FX5200 AGP
80gb Hard drive CS Primary IDE
DVD-RW Master Secondary IDE
CD-ROM Slave Secondary IDE

Did you do a fresh install after your mobo upgrade? Or are you booting to the old OS installation? the stop error 0x50 is not indicative of a hard drive issue. Check: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;329293 or http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d...d_stp_ccgm.asp

The new mobo had onboard sound which was causing regular crashes. The driver wasn't compatable with XP. I then did a fresh install of XP. THe problem continued of course until I disabled the sound and bought a PCI sound card.
Now it only comes up with this message. Completely random, the day before yesterday it crashed 10+ times, yesterday once and none so far today...
All I'm doing when it crashes is have internet on, msn messenger, opera and winamp palying MP3's.

Are you sure that processor is compatible with your new motherboard?
Again I am no expert like glc or some of other guys here but if it was me I would not be using such an old processor with a newer board.

You could have several issues. What model motherboard, which Amd 1.1 (there were a couple)?

The first Amd T-bird at 1.1ghz ran a 100x2 = 200 bus
A later versions at 1.13ghz ran a 133x2 = 266 bus

When supported by their then-current chipsets, the memory choices would logically have been PC1600 or PC2100. Some modules are not backward compatible. PC2700 = DDR 333.

Re: the sound issue - I haven't come across a motherboard yet that has onboard sound that's incompatible with XP. But I haven't seen every motherboard made - What did you see that suggested the incompatibility?

If you ran a new install - did you run a completely fresh install (completely erasing the drive)? Or?

What sort of disk are you using to install XP from - and what version?

If the new motherboard has onboard video - did you make sure to disable it?

That's all for now
