Win 2000 NT file sharing
Hi having a problem with the limitations of file sharing on a win 2000 NT network. I have a folder with a series of sub folders that I need to sare with up to 20 users, however I understand that win 2000/xp is limited to a max of 10 users infact I have experienced this if I exceed 10 users in the file sharing permissions box it stops working.
Is there an easy solution to this I have a 300GB external usb drive connected to a win 2000 NT machine on an office network and need to sahare data on this with about 20 users. I suppose I could duplicate it and balance 10 on each but this seems daft. I dont expect all 20 will be logged on together. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks Doogle100 |

the 10 connection rule applies to concurrent connections. It will not allow an eleventh. if you expect to have no more than 10 users logged in at a time, you will be alright. If you need more, you need to purchase a license.
