Ntfs/fat32
I am at long last about to start upgrading to Windows XP!
I run Windows 98SE, but have all my data files on a separate slave hard drive. My Primary hard drive is on a removable bay and my plan is to have Windows XP on another removable drive, so I can boot up either system, rather than have the conventional dual operating systems on the same drive. My concern is, what will happen with my data drive? Will NTFS affect this drive? I understand that Win XP can be installed as FAT32, but if my data drive will not be affected by the Op Sys being NTFS, I'd rather take advantage of the new system. Would be grateful for clarification!

Keep your data drive as FAT32. Both versions of Windows will be able to read and write to it. The partition you install Windows XP on can be NTFS; you just won't be able to access any of the files on that drive using Windows 98.
