Blank screen after inserting XP cd

Hi guys,
I just got a new hard drive and wanted to reinstall windows and linux. When I pop in the XP cd, I get some message about setup checking my hardware configuration and then the screen just goes blank. I've waited about 20 minutes but nothing happens. I tried booting using both my cd and dvd drives, but still no luck. Windows runs fine when I don't boot from the installation cd, so I can't see how it can be a hardware issue.

Thank you
Dswissmiss

I would run diagnostics on that new harddrive, and if thats checks out good you may just want to clone your old drive to the new one using disk cloneing software program.

I'm actually using that drive as my /home folder for linux. I'll try unplugging the drive and see if it works tomorrow.

Thanx for the help
