very SLOW start up...

Everything has been fine until yesterday.

Start up is very slow. Takes like 15 min to finally get it done. Once the start up is complete everything works fine.

Today I went to start it up and it was even slower, never fully started up and just eventually stopped did 2 beeps and screen went black. Restarted and it did start up but took forever. Once up and running again everything runs great.

Any help is appreciated. Backed up my HD but affraid to turn off now.

Boot up into safe mode and choose with network.. Do a full virus scan.. Also check for adware, spyware, and malware... Go into MS config start up and uncheck all other than necessay system programs needed to run windows.. Exit and reboot....

Check for problems in the Windows Partition.

Scan for Viruses/Spyware/Adware.

Take out unwanted items in the Startup Folder in the Start Menu.

Start -> Run -> Type in MSConfig -> Startup Tab -> Uncheck unwanted items and reboot. One startup, check the box and click ok.

You might want to go to the hard drive manufacturer's web site and get the hard drive diagnostic utility and test your hard drive...you may have bad clusters in the boot sector.
