Trouble with Reinstalling Windows XP Home Edition

I'm reinstalling Windows XP Home Edition, because I messed up my laptop with a BIOS update. I backed up pretty much everything I could off of my hard drive in safe mode and then wiped the thing. Now whenever I reinstall with the reinstallation disk Dell gave me, it gets stuck when getting about halfway done installing devices (shows that on the leftside taskbar). The screen it shows at the time talks about Windows Movie Maker, if that helps any. I need help figuring out how to get the reinstall to work correctly. Thanks.

Disconnect all peripherals from the laptop and eject all PCMCIA cards when you do the reinstall.

I've done that, and still the same thing happens.
