Cannot connect to 2003 shares from a 2000 domain

I was wondering if anyone could show me the light here...

I recently set up a VPN using Netscreen devices from my home to my work. I have a domain at my house which is in no way connected to the 2003 domain at work. Other than having the WINS servers replicating to help with name resolution across the VPN anyway.

Well.. I am having a wierd issue. When I try to connect to a share on a Windows 2000 workstation on the work domain from home, I have no issues.. However, when I try to connect to our 2003 server (only one) I get a password prompt, but it continually rejects it. I also have another employee who is tied in the same way I am.. He does NOT have a domain at his house.. Just a stand alone workstation. His workstation is a member of the work domain and he has no issues connecting to any shares.

His workstation is Windows 2000... All mine are XP Pro but joined to my home domain.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to get me able to connect to the 2003 shares? I have two servers right now on that domain. One is a 2003 Standard member server.. and the other is a 2000 Domain Controller. Do I need to migrate my domain to 2003 possibly before this will work?

Anyone?

Thanks in advance

What are the share and NTFS permissions on the folder you are trying to access on the 2003 machine?

It doesnt seem to matter... I created a test share and gave it full share to everyone and full NTFS rights to everyone. It still continually asks for my password. And furthermore, to make things even stranger.. I am a domain admin. So I definately am sure this isnt a permissions issue. And in case anyone asks, I also have tried my username as both domain\username and username@domain.. I have just never come across this issue before. I assume its not because I am in a 2000 domain, but rather because I am not joined to the 2003 domain.. Noone has encountered this before?

No error messages on server or client mairving...

faulkner.. The guest account was NOT enabled.. I did enable it. It still didnt work, so I assigned share and ntfs rights explicitly to GUEST as well as everyone. All full control.. Still didnt work. I do think you may be onto something though.. I am not familiar with the guest account and what it does. I also noticed there are a 'guests' and 'domain guests' group. I just now noticed these and went ahead and gave both of them full rights as well.. I also added the user account I am using to connect to these groups.. Still nothing. I am going to do some research on the guest accounts.. I may have skipped that chapter

Do you know if I am doing something wrong off the top of your head though?
