Question Msconfig question

In Msconfig under the services tab, there are so many programs running.
I know that I can disable all programs from start menu but can I do the same in the services menu?
Don't all these services running in the back ground hog a lot of Ram and kill the speed?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can. BUT!!!! if you don't know anything about services and what depends on them, you will end up with a screwed up box.

Well I had removed Norton's from this computer but it had left 2 services in the service tray and I removed them. The rest of the services in the tray are microsoft and the printer installed.
