A mix of issues with Windows 2k and Exchange 2k
Hi all,
I am having problems with a server I maintain on my campus. It is running Windows 2000 Server, Exchange 2000, IIS, MySQL, and more. Hopefully during the summer we will be able to find time to upgrade the server to 2003 as we already have the OS. Anyways, I'm experiencing a few problems: Outlook Web Access is not working with some users in the Active Directory. They are mail enabled and so is the HTTP protocol for OWA. When I enter their username and password to login it says the credentials are incorrect. The same settings work if I create a profile in Outlook, but not OWA. I could pick another person and they would work on OWA. I'm confused. Previous to about a month ago Exchange would automatically create the mailboxes for new users in the AD. Now, it does not. I have to add them to outlook for it to create the mailbox, and with an AD of over 1500 objects adding and modifying it constantly you can see how it would become tedious to have to do this for every user. Anyone know how to fix it to Exchange will automatically create the mailbox upon creation of a user in the AD? Thanks!

About the OWA thing, it can be a little trouble to figure out. I had a user once that had the same issue. It seemed that clearing out cookies on their computer fixed it. I would also try logging on using OWA from another computer to verify if the problem is user related or computer related. I am sure that you have seen this MS KB Article on OWA issues but here it is again.
As far as your other question make sure that you are adding the accounts on a computer that either has Exchange installed on it or has the Exchange Admin on it.

Thanks for the reply mairving.
Yes, I have seen that Microsoft article and have done everything listed on there and still no luck. I'll have to wait until I'm back on campus to try the other things you mentioned out. I am creating the accounts in Active Directory on the server that has Exchange installed on it. The mailbox does not show up in Exchange Manager until someone adds that account into Outlook. People are not able to access the account on OWA until the mailbox is created. It used to create the mailboxes automatically, I don't understand why it is not now. Thanks! Brandon |
