Windows XP Home Stop Code Blue screen Pls Help

Can any one please help me, I moved a driver file from Windows/System32/drivers. It was a file DRVMCDB.SYS. i moved this to the desktop. Since i did, my laptop won't boot up, in safe more, normal mode, it will not restore to a previous date, nothing. The error that comes up is Stop:0xc0000034,(0xf8a15528, 0xc0000034,0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I removed the HD and hooked it up to another PC via A USB external enclosure like i could see the files but i could not touch them as it was write protect. I tried to access it via command prompt but no look.

What i want to do is retrieve a Project that i am doing thats in My documents. After that i can rebuild windows etc.

Can anyone please help.
Thanks
Kevin.

Did you try to move the files off the drive to the other PC? Even if they are read-only, that does allow you to read them. What version of Windows is the PC running?

Do you have a Windows install CD or just a restore CD from the manufacturer?

It won't let me into my documents. I was hoping that it would but that folder is locked? If i changeded the PC to the same name that have rights to the document, will that work? Windows XP home SP2. I just have the restore CD? All i want is to retrieve my project folder in my doc's.
Thanks for the reply.

No, you won't be able to get to it by changing the PC's name or the username. However, you may be able to use something like Knoppix to get to it, since it doesn't use NTFS security settings.

Yes, you burn it to CD, then boot from the CD.

Knoppix boots and runs from the CD. Nothing is installed on your hard drive. That's what makes it so useful for situations like these.

My extreme apologies, I found my problem, when i hooked the Harddrive up to the PC, i was logged in as Admin, there fore i had no privilages. So when i logged in i was able to move the file back and retrieve the data i was looking for. When i put the hard drive back into the laptop, it worked ok, seemily the file DRVMCDB.SYS has something to do with the motherboard and that what was giving me my trouble and not powering up.

Thanks for all the help.
