Application Management service

Application Management service could not start as stated in the event viewer for windows xp Sp2 does anyone know how to fix this or is it another one of those thing that isn't needed for normal pc operations

Does it give an error number?

Run the system file checker (you will need your XP CD) .. start > run > sfc /scannow
