Does 'PrtScn' not work with WinXP SP2?

Now and again I like to copy the desktop image by pressing 'PrtScn' and then pasting it into a program like Paint Shop Pro.

My computer is now incabable of doing this.

Has Microsoft added something to XP Service Pack 2 which renders the 'PrtScn' key useless? (The problem only seemed to start after I installed SP2).

TIA.

EDIT: Moderator, please delete this posting, I've just realised I need to hit the 'F Lock' key first. DOH!

We dont delete threads on resolution; someone else might have the same issue. What I have noticed with the new version of Intellitype is that the F-lock is on by default as opposed to a previous version I was using. So if you've recently updated Intellitype or a similar keyboard s/w the change in behaviour might explain why you didn't have to deal with the F-lock before.

Yes, I believe you are correct. I got a newer model Microsoft keyboard a few months ago and that probably explains it. The last one was a similar Microsoft keyboard which also had an F Lock key and I never had any problems with the 'PrtScn' key.

Thanks Statica.

Colin.

I guess I won in the Microsoft Usability Sweepstakes. I was getting annoyed by not being able to use function keys (am a keyboard first/mouse second guy .. console habits die hard) by default. The new version of the keyboard and/or Intellitype remembers the F key state through reboots. So if you leave it off and reboot, it should remain off for you.

If you are however getting really annoyed check out: http://www.mvps.org/jtsang/flock.html

lol this happened to me. I bought a fancy ergonomic MS keyboard for work the other day, plugged it and and bam...FUNCTION KEYS WERE BROKE. About 30 seconds later after internally cursing MS I saw an "F Key Lock" like a caps or num lock...go figure why it is off by default.
