XP Users prob

Alright guys... long time no see n'all...

Bit of a problem here, namely:

Task Manager - All processes are listed as belonging to username "(unknown)"
Control Panel -> Users and Accounts errors with "Unspecified error"
I'm no longer an administrator.. trying to do anything which requires elevated privileges fails because of this.
Computer Management -> Local Users and Groups -> I can't access this as it errors with "Unable to access the computer ADMINISTRATOR. The error was: The RPC server is unavailable."

So I'm a bit afraid to restart the box incase my username's been wiped / the username/password dbase has been shafted and I can't get back in...

Is there any way to manually create a username before I reboot... or something? :-S

Cheers
Jim

Have you just tried fast switching (shortcut Winkey+L) and seeing if you can login to another account?
