What is causing my computer to crash??

My computer is crashing with increasing frequency and I have no idea what is causing it and how to fix it. Here is the message that I get. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Solution not found: consider BIOS Upgrade

Thank you for submitting an error report.

Problem description

Microsoft is unable to determine what specifically caused the problem you reported.

Consider BIOS Upgrade

During the crash analysis, we noticed the basic input/output (BIOS) system version on this computer does not match the specifications for the processor that is installed on your computer. This can occur when a newer processor is installed on an older system board or older BIOS. Using a BIOS that does not support the installed processor can result in Windows system crashes. Please contact your computer manufacturer or motherboard manufacturer for an updated version of BIOS for your computer's processor.

Important: Upgrading the BIOS version may require moderate to advanced troubleshooting skills. If you are uncomfortable with performing these steps, you might want to consider consulting with paid technical support.

If your computer contains an Intel processor, you can use special utilities to identify your specific processor. Please click the following link for more information:

Is this a previously working system that started crashing out of the blue, or is it a newer build that has experienced this from the start? Have you made any software or hardware changes lately? What are you full specs?

The system has always worked great. The latest hardware change was adding a Segate serial ATA 160 GB hard drive. I am now using the old 40 GB hard drive as a slave and that one isn't ATA. It started crashing when I installed the new drive and I RMA'd it. It had been working fine for a long while, but now it's crashing again.

Could it be because one drive is ATA and the other isn't? Could it be a simple matter of upgrading the BIOS?
