XP power options
For better security, I changed all the comps in my office so that all the users are limited users and there is one admin account.
Most of the users dont want their monitors to shut off at all. If I log on as admin I can set that in Power Options but if in user/limited account I can change the scheme to Always On but if I try to change the monitor to Never turn off, I get an access denied. I went into Local Policies>User Rights Assignment>Profile System Performance and added the user. But this doesnt seem to do the trick. So How can I allow the user to adjust his/her power options? TIA

Thanks for the reply Dynamic but that didnt do it.
I found the answer tho. Here is the registry hack. Back up the key before changing it. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/CURRENTVERSION/CONTROLS FOLDER/ POWERCFG/ Change the permissions for the users of GLOBALPOWERPOLICY and POWERPOLICIES => give them full control. |
