help!!! ***windows media center and symantec problem
Here is my problem, i purchased the desktop in my sig for the purposes of burning my .avi, .mpg, .wmv files onto dvd for playback on my stand alone player. and this was working perfectly till this weekend. the only changes i have made to the system since the last successful burn was subscribing to my symantec. see the trial that came with the new computer was expiring this weekend and i decided to renew. the software is called Symantec internet security 2006, firewall...virus scan....spyware. i tried doing a system restore to a previous time, but i only have restores left from the last week and none of them will take....says no changes made. such as it is, i would like to restore the burning function of my mce desktop for dvds. as it is all i could find on the web about the dvd burning codec used within media center, something by sonic....which i could not find, but notice that the product i suspect is in use is no longer available at the sonic page within mce. i have considered the possibility that i have been bitten by the drm bug, and that is fine. but i want to know if there is some software i could use in its place to get my avi, mpg, and wmv to a dvd and then into my stand alone dvd player. i have nero express on the system too, and no additional codec packjages for dvd encoding. if any suggestions could be made for the mce functions or a good program for converting and burning avi, mpg, and wmv to dvd for play back would be appreciated!!!
