I don't know if there is a way to repair the problem but you could always install windows over itself just so you can go in and backup what you need to then do a full clean install. Keep in mind however that when you install windows over itself you will lose anything inside the my documents folder.

Most of the time that I have gotten that message the chkdsk /r fixes it or it is a bad hard drive. Find out the model of your hard drive, go over the the mfg's site and download their diagnostice and run it.

Wait, how did you expand or copy from the cd if you didn't have the pswd to get into the recovery console?

I can boot up with CD into recovery console. My mistake, I viewed my last post, did repair but I did need the key but I got it now.
