Windows Validation Software
hey guys, sorry if this has been posted before, but when i searched it came back with every thread that had the word windows in it lol. anyway my question is this....my buddy saw how cheap i built my pc for and wanted to do the same. so he did, however, he didnt listen to me and got, well lets say, unofficial, copy of windows home. My question is if he runs the windows validation assistant (from MS website) and it comes back non-valid or whatever....what happens? does his windows corrupt beyond repair, is MS notified, do i need to take my lawn chair to his house and watch the FBI kick in his door? lol
thanks, nash |

He will not be able to update his version of Windows. I don't believe M$ is given any information that would enable them to track him down.
He needs to get a valid copy of Windows. Without updates, he will be vulnerable to security attacks. Plus, this forum does not give people help with pirated software. |

Actually he will be able to get updates by using the Automatic Update feature in XP. He just won't be able to do it manually through Microsoft's site. Even with a non validated copy, Auto Update stills does it's job. But having a pirated copy is still wrong and shouldn't be done in the first place.
And no I don't know this first hand, it has been published many times. Last edited by 12twelve12; 02-16-2006 at 02:01 AM. |
