You may still have a problem. Unless you added a boot image, the disk most likely won't boot. XP doesn't copy disk to disk like previous MS os's did.

UH, I don't know where that info came from, but I copy every one of my customer's XP Disks and product keys to keep on file should they ever lose one (which they do all of the time).

These disks boot perfectly and install perfectly. I have never had one single issue as a result of using a copy in place of the original.

It all depends on exactly what you use to copy them. Some CD burning software's copy functions may not do it just right - I use Clone CD and it works fine.

What software are you using to burn with Kev? My past attempts with Nero OEM Suite (multiple versions) would not make a bootable disk if you just use the Copy Disk function. Haven't tried it yet with my new Nero 7 full version.

The old Nero 5.0 works perfectly every time using the "copy entire disk" function.

I think we have backup copies of XP CD's that I believe were done using Nero express, although I cant remember the version. However, they were newer versions, and the copies seemed to work without a hitch!

Ok, I've taken my public lumps. I made a copy of one of my XP SP2 disks with Nero 7 and it boots just fine. Probably just the loose nut on the mouse!
