Nothing Displayed in C:
hey guys got a computer from a client. he wanted me to back everything up and wipe it. however i am unalbe to view anythign that in the c: folder. nothing is listed when i try to explore the drive. i am able to view the my documents folder from the desktop but nothing in the hard drive. im pretty sure its a registry setting (i think?) but have no idea what or where. any help woudl be greatly appreciated. Oh yea this is Windows ME

sounds like the hard drive has Norton GO Back enabled. have you booted his pc with that hard drive in it? if go back is enabled you cannot put it in another computer and view the files.
if you do see go back loading when you turn on the computer then do some searches about how to disable it. if that is not what is happening pardon me for being wrong. is it a gateway? just a guesssssss. till someone else comes up with the correct answer. |

ya i dont think norton go back is on this pc. norton system works was but i uninstalled it but for some reason i dont think it uninstalled completed because it still has the norton protected recycle bin however when i try to open it i get a program.exe error cannot open. i am also unable to reinstall norton systemworks because it comes up with an error about a .dll file. this is a laptop btw to .

You may have to pull the drive and put it in an adapter, then slave it into a desktop to back up his files. Here's an adapter if you need one:

It's possible, but if there's important data on there, I'd find a way to save it FIRST.
