Windows question

I am looking to buy a laptop but all the pc manufacturers are pushing Windows Media Center. Is Windows Media Center the same as Windows XP Pro with the exception of Media Center having all the extra stuff on it? I am not into that live, record tv stuff. I just want a laptop that will handle my needs without all the extras.

Thanks

The Media Centre Edition is basically Windows XP Pro with the extras. Note that the ability to join domains is disabled in Media Centre. For business environment, look for pure XP Pro.

If you go to the manufacturers websites and hit customize on the model you are interested in there is usually an option to change the default OS to whatever you want. I looked at Dell and they want $119 more for XP Pro than for MCE which is standard. HP has XP standard with XP pro for $79 more.
