Can't Use Certain Run Commands
When I use Start --> Run --> and type in commands like cmd or regedit, I get this error:
![]() I checked the Windows Directory, and regedit is there and works. I just recovered from a virus/spyware attack and I'm not sure what to do. |

Yeah,
virus will install corrupted copies of system files. Try checking the size of your file. Mine (regedit) is 143kb. when I run across comps with bad infections, I use a zero fill util and reinstall the os. It's a pain, but chances are the critters are gone. Good luck. My regedit is 143kb and works perfectly fine, its not only for regedit but also other commands like cmd [command prompt].
Both command prompt and registry editor work fine. I'm gonna try sfc /scannow tomorrow though. |

yeah, the corrupted copies work (execute) fine. while they are running, they are either a) sending data to server, or
b) performing ops on comp. |

I used Spybot, Ad-Aware, Windows Defender, SBC Yahoo! Anti-Spy, Spy Sweeper, Norton Anti-Virus, and CWShredder.

Oh, I'm not saying that your file is corrupted, it's the same size as my uncorrupted file. If you don't have a malware problem, I don't know what the problem could be. I was just trying to be helpful.

I got some help from geekstogo.com, and they said that malware added a the file regedit.com and cmd.com [when i type in cmd.exe it works]. I used killbox and fixed the cmd, and I'm fixing regedit right now.
