Question ME & Simply Accounting 7 compatability

I bought an HP 8860C in Feb. with ME installed. I have had many problems with the whole system (even had the mother board replaced after 2 weeks). Problem now is that about every third or fourth time I turn computer on, I cannot open any programs and have to restart. HP feels is may be that ME is incompatable with Simply Accounting 7.0 and I should update Simply. Has anyone heard of this problem?

Welcome to PcMechanic

Does the accounting program load at startup? If so, remove it from startup. If not, then the the acct program has nothing to do with the problem. It could be anyone of the other programs loading at startup.

Intermitten problems are tough to solve. It could just be a freak of nature...
Click on Start->Run and type: MSCONFIG Look in the startup tab. You might want to post back here all the items that have check marks in them. Its not going to be easy. You'll have to UNcheck the items one at a time to see if removing it solves the problem. (could tak days/weeks)

ME and Simply

There are 28 items checked. I uninstalled Simply and still have the same problem. I have quite a few older programs like Adobe PageMaker 6.5, Adobe Photoshop 6, Illustrator 7, Miocrosoft Office 97. HP suggests I uninstall one program at a time until problem stops. Do you agree?

As I mentioned above, I'd start by unchecking items in msconfig since your problem is at startup.
