XP wont install

HEy fellas

Here is my issue...

I have decided to format and install windows XP (not becuase of any issues... just had accumulated alot of crap on HDD and wanted a fresh install)

When loading windows it maked it past the formatting and when it gets to the part where is copys files it displays the message

"The disc or CD you inserted maybe damaged."
"Press enter to try again. Make sure you are using the correct CD. If you continue to see this message, try using another CD"

Now this is the 3rd C.D. I have attempted to use... all 3 working in other machines. I have tried on 2 different HDD's (both sata) have tried 3 different CD drives and all are yeilding the same result?....

anu ideas?

Is this the overclocked computer in your sig.?
Will the install complete if you undo the overclock?
I seem to remember that the via chipsets had IDE controller problems with overclocking.

Underclock and test your ram. Test your hard drives with manufacturers' diagnostics.

Will bring Mem and HDD's both into work tommorow for testing.

As a side note - XP installed just fine on a PATA hdd (IDE 1 Slave) I just hooked up. (6gb)

Not likely a mem issue in this case, bit odds of both HDD's being faulty?... maybe a SATA issue?.....

Also make sure you have NO usb devices plugged in, including any that attach to the usb headers on the mobo. This would inlcude card readers and front panel usb connectors.

No USB devices were plugged in.

Well i updated the SATA (raid) Controller drivers from VIA website and now it's copying files (this is where is used to no go) 90% copied with no issues. Looks like there was a conflict with the raid controller. Thanks all for the suggestions Much appreciated
