Lost all icons except on desktop

HI I have lost all my icons in the control panel and when I go to c: , program files or anywhere ,no icons show on the right side. I have run virus scans. I have gone to regedit and made sure the settings were right there. Default C:\windows\system32\jscript.dll and ThreadingModel is set to both.
Whats the procedure to getting these back? Even when I click on My Computer I get a blank page. Thanks

did you try system restore?

wow, this is really strange, maybe by accident you right clicked properties on your desktop, and clicked hidden.

It happens....

Hi Edday

I've seen mention that reinstalling IE helps in some cases. If you have the option to "repair" IE -either in the Tools menu of the System Information program (usually in Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools) or from the IE selection in Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel -- then you can try that first.

If you end up having to grab a fresh download, set the Registry key mentioned below & see if that helps.
1. Set IsInstalled to 0 at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}
2. Download and install the latest version of IE.

Best of luck
. . . Gary

I tried most of the thing you guy's suggested . I couldn't get anything to work. I couldn't see anything on my PC. I did have everything backed up, so I did a fresh install of win 2000 pro. I have everything back now . Thanks
