System processes

I have 5 svchost.exe processes running.. are all of them required?
I can end a few.. but if i end to many a box pops up saying that my system will restart in XX amount of time.

My computer is annoying!

Yes, you need the svchost files. Those are generic host files for controlling the various services within XP (that's what it stands for BTW, "service host"). Basically, if you disable them, you'll be disabling something you'll likely need. I don't think there's a set number of them that any one system will have running at one time. Each file might control 3 or 4 services or it might be hosting 15 services. It just depends on how many are assigned to each one at bootup. If it makes you feel any better, I just checked my Task Manager and I've got 7 instances of it running right now. But anyway, yes, you need those.
