My Computer - Blank

if i go to My Computer - nothing shows in there...

i can use the pulldown menu to select the drives and that seems to work

i reset all folder view properties back to default... same outcome...

i ran a sfc /scannow - same outcome, no issues found

i changed the ribbon going from the cdrom to mobo - (cdrom not working was the reason the computer is being repaired - then i noticed My Computer was empty)

any ideas?

If everything was working OK earlier, you should be able to use System Restore for this. Usually such trouble is Registry related.

System Restore - Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore

Use a restore point from before the My Computer display's disappearing act.

Best of luck

[P.S. run thorough full-system malware scans, too, this sort of thing can be traced to virus/trojan/worm infection]

I have to agree with Gary's last remark. Most times I have seen this it was related to trojan or virus infection. Go to www.Ewido.com and use their online scanner.
