Question How to kill wuauclt.exe process?

Is there a way to kill or end the wuauclt.exe process? After the computer has been updated, this Restart Now popup kept coming up to have the user restart the computer and I do not want to restart at the moment. How do I kill this process so it does not popup again?

It's not a virus. It's a windows update popup and I want to kill it...by using task manager will only last a minute or two.

in my humble opinion if you download win updates your better off doing a restart
if so prompted. task manager should only be used for hung applications

Many thanks for the help. The problem is the policy to enforce windows upate is from the domain server and we can't change the local policy. We don't want to stop the windows automatic update service. All I'm looking for is a way to have the popup to top popping up and quick bother the user for a least 3 to 4 hours.

i see, i think a another way to try (and mayge better) to shutdown updates is through windows services. you can close the process from there.

If you go to control panel, security center, automatic updates there are options there for how the system downloads and installs automatic updates. You can also schedule it for a particular time of day (say... a time when users are not online).
