Removed a program and Norton is not in the system tray but still runs??

Yesterday I removed M8 clipboard software using its own auto uninstaller. After a reboot the system tray looks like safe mode and only 3 icons are up, unplug eject hardware - volume - network connection. The Norton is no longer in it??
The Norton is running and the daily scan worked as normal. Also some other various icons are not showing. Used to be 7 or 8 icons.
My system performance was always running the memory @ 240000k or more. Now it runs at 174000k or better. This may be a good glitch but why?
I'm using Windows 2000 and I borowed an msconfig application. The symantic's all seem to be running on the startup. Can I turn the norton in the system tray back on??
Thanks, Gary
