So i put my comp into safe mode through msconfig and checked the safemode thing. then later that day since i forgot i had it on and i booted up the comp with windows xp in the drive and i went and i repaired the os... little did i know that once it does that it has to finish setup, only problem is that i have to get passed safemode...
ive tried a lot of things, last good configuration doesnt do anything, F8 start windows normally, etc... nothing it says setup can complete in safe mode and will restart. ok so its not too much of a big deal (who am i kidding im loosing so much data, and i had a pretty good balance) but I can't access my own files, I reinstalled xp on the same hdd since i need this comp not only for gaming but for other important things like school. i know theres supposely a way to access your old settings and stuff but i can't access it, it says access denied or not accessiable, acces denied. any help? im truly lost, i had this happen to me twice now (not the safe mode thing lol) thanks for any insight

You need to check your boot.ini file and make sure that you dont have any parameters for safemode (/safeboot:minimal). Easiest way to edit the boot.ini file is to open up C:\boot.ini (you can see it if you've set explorer to display hidden files) .. or go to Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Start up and recovery - Settings button > and hit the Edit button to view the boot.ini file.
You will need to remove the /safeboot:minimal part of it. If you dont know what to remove, paste the contents of your boot.ini file here. HTH |

and since now i reinstalled xp in another part of the hdd idk ive been deleting parts of the other one... like some few small things |
