Question background displays

Hello Everyone
To start with, I usually post a thread in the wrong place so don't be shy about telling me where to go. Literally!

My question is about deleting background displays from the list of backgrounds in 'display properties'. I was playing with a bunch of photos downloaded from the internet to see how they would look as 'backgrounds' and they all managed to download onto the background list. Can I delete them and how might I do that if I can?

I'm not sure where the main JPEG Windows wallpaper is, but I know the tiled ones I think are in the Windows folder itself. C:\windows. Are all of them are on the list or just the active one?

All thirty one of them are on the list. I was able to go to C:\windows and deleted backgrounds that came from My Pictures but the others titled Internet Explorer Wallpaper weren't readily visible there.

How do I remove a wallpaper from my computer?
To remove a wallpaper, first go to 'Settings' (in Start Button) -> 'Control Panel' -> 'Display' and then click on the 'Desktop' tab. Find the name of the wallpaper image(s) you would like to delete and write it down. Then go to 'Search' (in the Start Button) and enter the name(s) of the wallpaper image(s). Once the computer locates each wallpaper file, you can simply highlight the file and delete it like any other file on your computer.

Isn't Internet Explorer Wallpaper, the temporary image file of when you right click on an image from the internet and make it your wallpaper? I don't think that really needs to be deleted.

Well, it *does* create a "Internet Explorer Wallpaper.bmp" file. It's not going to be in c:\windows - it's going to be in your profile under Documents and Settings.

Is there a way to change the default backgrounds folder. In windows 2000 it was my pictures, but now it's in windows, but I want it to be my pictures folder

Thank you, GLC. Your direction worked perfectly. This is why I love this forum. Someone like me can get the solutions we need without hiring some IT guy to come over and fix a problem. Every time I visit PC Mechanic, I learn at least one more thing that I didn't know before.
Again, Thank you!
