i have a WD 250gb drive connected to an ide cable on a 1u server. im installing win2k server with sp4. when i boot to the cd i am only seeing 131gb worth of storage space. when i enter the bios it shows the 250gb hard drive. i threw win xp pro in and booted to it to see if i got the same results. instead it shows the whole amount of the drive (233gb roughly). i thought sp3 or sp4 was suppose to address the 48bit lBA problem.
does anyone have any suggestions as to y its not showing my the full drive capacity when booting to my w2k server with sp4 cd? and any solutions to this problem would be appreciated. server specs: intel SE7501 CW2 motherboard dual intel xeon 2.4ghz processors 2gb total (512mb in each dimm slot) currently 1 WD 250gb IDE hard drive, adding a second one to setup RAID 1 just as soon as it comes in dual onboard nic/video thanks

update:
fixed it. i had to add a registry key for 48bit LBA in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Atapi\Parameters On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry value: Value name: EnableBigLba Data type: REG_DWORD Value data: 0x1 reboot machine. sorry for the double post |
