Win xp wont shut down?????
Hi all, more problems from my strange machine again...............
Anyway this time, for some reason my computer doesn’t want to shut down. I go to start, shut down etc and all that happens is the hard drive makes a quick noise like a floppy drive loading for a second. I have to shut down one of the system processes every time I want to turn the system off. Any ideas Caine |

8. AH HA! Which system process?
1. When did the problem begin? Can you associate the onset of the problem to the installation, upgrade or removal of a program, to include Windows updates or AV software? 2. Is there a specific error message? 3. What happens if you restart instead of shutdown? 4. What happens in safe mode? http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...01052409420406 5. Is this a desktop or laptop? 6. Do you find anything in event viewer [ system & applications ] and / or Windows Error Reporting? Event viewer: start > run > type: eventvwr.msc OK WER start > run > type: msinfo32 OK on the left, left click "+" to the left of "software environmment". left click "windows error reporting" 7. Scan for viruses & other malware at www.pandasoftware.com/activescan save report. Post report here. Best of success. BC123 |

problem solved
Thanks for the info mate, but the problem has gone away now by its self so never got to find out what caused it. Will be sure to answer your questions though if the problem starts up again.
Thanks though, regards, Caine |
