Windows XP Language

Hi there,

Recently a friend gave me his old PC. It has Windows XP Pro installed, however it's a Russian distribution. Unfortunately, I don't speak Russian. For the most part, I can navigate about without needing to understand the text in Menus and Dialog boxes, but eventually my memory of Windows will come to an end and something will happen and I'll need to be able to read it.

Is there a way to change the language to English? There is an article here which is of no use as the drop down menu shown doesn't seem to exist on the dialog in the Russian version. At first I thought I could have missed it as it was in Russian, however the dialog boxes appear identical in layout, and furthermore, the option doesn't exist on this computer either(Windows XP Home).

Any ideas?

Tom.

EDIT (15/3/06): I recently realised that the reason for the drop down menu not being there is that it relies on having the Multilingual User Interface Pack. Is there a way to change the language without this hard to get pack?

No, if your read, The Moderator's comment are directed at Thomas and not you, he probably edited them out and thats why you can not read them. Thomas probably made some sarcastic remark about your post not being helpful to him..

bozo please read my post it was directed at thomas__hb. ktkendall is correct in his assessment of what happened. Of particular note is thomas' status on the board as well.
In any event, I'm going to close this thread up. Feel free to PM me if you would like any clarification.
