nisserv, oleaut32.dll problems and more...

Hey,

My home pc is currently having some difficulties starting up Norton, Outlook Express and IE amongst other things...like not being able to go online, etc. It boots up then as my background image appears i get the error:

NISSERV has performed an illegal and will close down, etc. (this is an integral part of norton firewall i believe)

then i get error(s):

OLEAUT32.dll - file cannot be started, check file for problem

SYMDBG.dll - not found

also if i start outlook express i get the error:

MSOERES.dll - not found.

so basically, norton antivirus and firewall don't start, i can't use IE and outlook express won't start.

any ideas...i'm running Win98SE.

cheers

You could try uninstalling/re installing norton, and downloading msoeres.dll from an alternate site, and placing it in the program files/outlook express folder.

With 98, you would be better off uninstalling Norton and leaving it uninstalled. Do what you can to scan the computer for malware - it's gonna be tough if you can't get a browser working to do online scans or download anything.
