Win XP Pro keeps on restarting

Hi,

I am having problems regarding my bro's PC. Initially, it was installed with Windows 2000. Then, I reformatted it and installed Windows XP SP 2.

Suddenly, the PC just keeps on restarting by itself. My friend told me that it could be the motherboard problem but before I could change the motherboard, I just want some advices here.

Or are there any diagnostic tests that I could download from the net to find out which hardware that causes the restart?

Thank you so much.

Is your pc randomly rebooting itself? You can go to

Control Panel->System icon->Advance tab->Startup & Recovery Settings button. UNcheck/disable the "auto reboot" option. Instead of rebooting you'll probably get a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) which can be searched on for a solution.

You can go to http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1 to search on for example: STOP 0x00000050
