Cannot repair WinXp boot.....

Here is the problem. tries to set up another partition on laptop so I installed partition magic 7.0. It had to reboot to setuo new partition and became stuck during this process. Finally got fedup and rebooted computer. Now it gets to the point where it looks for xmt(i think) and reboots over and over. Tries to use Winxp recovery console. Used FIXMBR, FIXBOOT with no luck. Is there some way I can get this laptop to boot up again without resorting to a complete reinstall? Its a Compaq laptop model V2000.

Did you make the emergency rescue bootdisk for Partition Magic? If not, you are out of luck.

it would not have worked anyways because the laptop has no floppy drive and there is no way to make a bootable cd. My only hope at theis point now is to connect the laptop drive to my desktop and recover all the personal files etc and jsut use the compaq recovery disk.
