smokin XP Comp Mgmt Services Changes Disaster

Thinking that I knew what I was doing, I disabled so many Services in Win XP Home Edition, that I am barely able to use my pc any longer.

Is there a way to correct what I have done?

I have disabled Services which are dependent on the general OS.

For example: The Properties function is disabled
System Restore is unable to function properly
Windows Media Player no longer functions

The list goes on and on.

I can provide additonal details to anyone willing to help this idiot.

Any assistance that anyone can provide would be appreciated beyond belief.

Thank you in advance,

THE IDIOT

Have you considered turning the services back on?

Boot with the XP CD and use the repair console, and use the LISTSVC, ENABLE, and DISABLE commands to get your services re-enabled.

Red face

I thought about this option previously, and of course I cannot find the XP CD. Would MS be able to help with a replacement, would I have to purchase a new one, or would a new CD even be useful?

I think I have learned this lesson the very hard way.

Thanks again in advance.

If you know someone with an XP home CD you could use that.

Can you get it running in Safe Mode and get into the Services management?

Even in safe mode I'm unable to access the Properties.

I think I may have found an XP cd from someone.

Thanks to everyone so far for the helpful suggestions, much appreciated!

Muah!
