I have been trying to clean off spyware, etc. from a sony vaio notebook running Windows XP Home edition. Something has happened and when I try to start windows after I enter the password, Windows shuts down. I cannot start in safe mode either. I don't have floppy drive or a Windows CD, I have looked into a NTFS boot disk. I am not sure how to proceed. Can I put files onto a CD and use it for rebooting the computer? Any ideas?

Considering that your post is a few weeks old you may have already solved your problem.
If you still need idea's on how to fix this, I would get Windows XP Home cd and do a repair install. Since the computer shuts down after you enter you enter your password, there might be some type of malware that is set to run after your password is entered that is causing the system to shut down. Doing a repair install should overwrite these files and allow Windows to load normally.
