booting my winxp
I have recently Installed Norton Anti-Virus 2004 version in my winxp and have updated its protection service. After the installation of this software ,my winxp takes a little long time to boot and after the appearance of desktop, the system slows down to a great extent and when I open the Internet Explorer, suddenly the Norton Anti-Virus warning box appears on the right side of the window stating that the "Internet Explorer is waiting to be scanned".
I want to know that how come this anti-virus software is scanning my system during bootup? Is this the reason why my system is being slow during bootup? Can anyone help me in this problem. |

Look through the options and disable things you don't want it to do.

Norton is a resource hog and 2004 is likely the worst version they ever came out with.
You would be much happier with the free version of AVG, Avast or Nod 32 (if you insist on paying for one). -Kev

a fresh install of Norton 2004 is buggy, make sure you run live update and it will download and install all patches and fixes.
