One For The Experts

Can someone please explain why the following occurs when Shareaza has finished downloading a file and is in the process of moving it into the completed store. If i want to select say Hotmail it takes a long time to come up on screen although the task manager shows the processor 90% idle, Shareaza at 3%to8%. As soon as the file has completed being transferred all returns to normal speed.

Do have shareaza set to use maximum bandwidth? By default shareaza wants to use all of your bandwidth for transfers. Check your settings.
It sounds to me like once shareaza is finished downloading, it frees up some resources for other applications.

I run Shareaza at 1% but that is not the query it is only when Shareaza is moving a file and why does it not show high CPU usage in task manager?

I bet the hard drive light is almost solid on (not blinking) when you do this. When the hard drive is fully used, usually when you're transferring a big file and doing something that uses the hard drive too, it will slow down the system without the cpu being fully used. This happens because any hard drive requests from hotmail (and it will use a few here and there, like any other program) have to compete with the file copy for drive access and the program (and thus the cpu) has to wait for that data.
