call waiting kick off?

My dad still uses dial up and wants to know how to set his Windows XP system to kick him offline if call waiting beeps in. How can I do this? I'm sure this must be a simple setup thing but I can't find it. Anyone know where to look?

You want to get the boot when the phone rigns? You can disable call waiting by preceding the isp phone number with "*70", Check dialing propeties, It may be on by default when he installed the isp software and dialer. Just turn it off if it is.

Yes, he wants to be booted if call waiting rings in. I'll check dialing properties for that setting. There is no ISP software, it is a simple dialup connection, and I've got him using firefox for a browser.

i also am on a dialup and use a program called phonetray dialup. it shows on screen who is calling and gives the option of answering the call or not. requires v92 modem. if you want more info pm me. there may be other great programs available.

A V.92 modem and internet call waiting software is the best way to do this. There's actually a good chance that if you simply take out the *70, from the string, an incoming call may dump the modem anyway. It depends on the quality of the modem.
